Guidelines
Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) provides its staff and students with technology resources, including, but not limited to: computers, tablets, and other devices (such as cell phones); digital resources (including software, apps, email); and network / internet access. CPS technology resources must support education or legitimate school business; use is a privilege, not a right.
Permissions
Students are only permitted to utilize Artificial Intellegence (AI) assistance when given explicit permission from a teacher on an assignment and meet the terms of service set forth by the program in use.
Key Considerations
-
Clear Communication: Students should communicate clearly and respectfully with their teachers about using AI in the classroom, explaining its purpose and ensuring it aligns with the teacher's guidelines and expectations.
-
Definitions of Original Work: Harness the power of AI responsibly, ensuring your work reflects your original thoughts and insights, not just the output of a machine.
-
Utilizing and Citing AI: Acknowledge the AI assistance you receive, giving credit where it's due by accurately citing AI tools as you would any other source in your academic work.
- Potential Consequences of AI Misuse: Don't let AI become academic dishonesty; utilize its capabilities ethically to enhance your learning, not replace it.
