Remember to always shut down and plug in your Chromebook at the end of each day to fully charge it. Once charged, unplug your Chromebook and store it in a safe place.
Here are some troubleshooting tips to try when your device fails to charge or power on.
Check the power supply and connections if device won’t power on or charge.
- The first thing to check for when your Chromebook won't turn on is a dead battery or faulty charger.
- Unplug your charger from the wall and your Chromebook.
- Then, plug charger back into Chromebook (or try plugging the charger on the other side of Chromebook if your model has two locations for the plug).
- Then plug into wall outlet, charge for at least 30 minutes to an hour, try turning on again.
- Ensure the charger is plugged firmly into the device / power adapter and wall outlet.
- Try plugging charger into a different outlet to rule out a faulty outlet.
- Try plugging charger into another device to rule out a faulty charger.
- If possible, use another compatible charger that you know is working. If it charges, your original charger is likely the problem.
If battery still won’t charge after testing power supply, then perform a hard reset.

- Wait a few minutes until the device has cooled down.
- Unplug the device from its power cable and let it sit with the vents unobstructed.

- Remember to use the Chromebook on a hard surface (not on pillows, blankets, etc) to allow it to “breathe” and prevent overheating.
