ChromeVox Screen Reader Chrome Extension on Personal Devices

Install ChromeVox Extension

*When installing and using the ChromeVox extension on personal devices, it is best to use the Google Chrome web browser.

Open up Google Chrome Browser
 
 

Visit the Chrome Web Store and in the search bar type in chromevox. 

 

Select ChromeVox Screen Reader

 

Then click the blue button Add to Chrome. 

At Add “Screen Reader” pop up window, click Add extension button.

 

After extension has been added, there will be a Screen Reader has been added to Chrome pop-up window to confirm installation.

Once installed, ChromeVox will remain on and enabled until you choose to disable it when it is not needed.

How to Access ChromeVox

1. Click the Extensions puzzle piece icon in top right of menu bar. 
2. Find Screen Reader in the list of extensions and click the push pin icon to add the extension to the Chrome Browser menu bar. 
3. Now, you can click on the icon to access other options. 
   
   
    

How to Turn Off ChromeVox

1. Click on the Extensions puzzle piece icon .  
2. Click on Manage extensions.
   
    
3. Find the Screen Reader extension and click on the button to toggle it off. Once off, you will see it disappear from the menu bar. To turn it back on, repeat steps 1-3 and toggle it back on. When on, you will see icon reappear in menu bar.
